What this course covers

Provide Cardiopulmonary ResuscitationHLTAID009 · Statement of Attainment

You learn what to do when someone stops breathing or their heart stops. It is a short, hands-on classroom course built around the techniques the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends.

It is for anyone who needs a current CPR certificate. That includes workers whose job needs their CPR kept up to date each year, fitness and aquatic staff, parents and carers, and members of the public.

Before you book

A quick language check is part of enrolment. You'll need enough English to read, write and understand the course. After booking, you'll complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check in your student account. You need to pass it to do the course. Not sure? Try a practice check first. What you'll need

A USI. A Unique Student Identifier.

Photo ID. A valid photo ID — uploaded in your student account before the online part, and shown when you arrive on the day for the in person class.

An online module. You work through it before your class.

Two minutes of CPR. You also need to be physically able to do 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin on the floor.

Most workplaces want their staff to hold a current CPR certificate. This is the one they ask for.

How you'll train

In person

Before you come in, you complete a compulsory online module. You attend a classroom session with a trainer and practise CPR on a manikin.

Parking

There is no customer parking on site. Paid parking is available nearby at Wilson Parking and at Secure Parking in Kings Cross. Limited metered street parking may be available. Always check the signs. Parking availability, hours and fees can change, so check the operator's website before travelling.

Finding the entrance

Enter directly from William Street through the shopfront branded Edway and Training Aid. There is one public entrance.

We have a ground-floor training room available for participants who require wheelchair access or have difficulty using stairs. Its availability may depend on participant numbers, so please notify us of any accessibility requirements when booking.

Parking

There is no customer parking on site. Limited public parking may be available nearby, including the small Blacktown Council Car Park 72 on Hope Street. Parking limits and availability vary, so check all signs. Allow extra time to park and walk to the venue.

Finding the entrance

Look for Unit 34 and the Edway/Training Aid signage. The entrance leads to a staircase up to the training rooms.

What happens after you book

  1. 1Check your emailYour confirmation email shows your venue, date and time. It comes from no_reply@trainingaid.com.au. It usually arrives within a few minutes of booking.
  2. 2Set up your student accountLog in with the details in your confirmation email and set up your account.
  3. 3Have your USI readyA Unique Student Identifier is required for this course. Get or find yours at usi.gov.au.
  4. 4Upload your photo IDUpload a valid photo ID in your student account. It's required for all nationally recognised training and confirms your identity for your certificate.
  5. 5Complete a short LLND checkIn your student account you complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check. You'll need enough English to take part and to pass it.
  6. 6We confirm your enrolmentOnce you've finished the LLND check, we confirm your enrolment by email. If there's a problem with your eligibility, we'll contact you directly before you start.
  7. 7Finish the online moduleWork through the compulsory online module in your student account before your class.

Questions, answered

Is this CPR course nationally recognised?
Yes. You finish with a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, issued by Training Aid Australia (RTO 91411). It is accepted in every state and territory. The separate online CPR course sold on this site is not accredited and does not give you this certificate.
How long does my CPR certificate last?
It is valid for 12 months. Most workplaces ask for a refresh every year, so book again as yours gets close to 12 months old.
How long is the course, and is there anything to do beforehand?
The classroom session runs for 3 hours including breaks. There is also a compulsory online module that you complete before you attend.
Do I have to attend in person?
Yes. This is a classroom course — you need to be there to practise CPR on a manikin, and you need to be physically able to do 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
