What this course covers

Work safely at heightsRIIWHS204E · Statement of Attainment

You train for work where a fall is possible — building and construction sites, roof repair and maintenance, high-rise storage areas, and anywhere else a fall could happen. Fall prevention comes first and is the main focus of the day. Work positioning and fall-arrest systems are covered for the situations where prevention is not enough.

The day mixes theory with hands-on practice. You cover the work health and safety rules that apply, then do the practical work alongside a trainer.

Questions, answered

Is there a working at heights licence in Australia?
No. Safe Work Australia's list of high risk work licences covers scaffolding, rigging, dogging, cranes, hoists, forklifts and boilers — working at heights is not on it, and no state issues a heights card. What employers and sites ask for is training: this course gives you a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for Work Safely at Heights, which is the evidence they are after.
What jobs ask for a working at heights ticket?
Roofing and construction work where you could fall — employers have to make sure anyone doing fall-risk work is trained, so most sites ask for the ticket before you start. Solar panel installers need it too: the unit this course gives you, RIIWHS204E, is one of only two heights units Solar Accreditation Australia accepts for accreditation, alongside an electrician's licence and the solar units. On a construction site you will also need a current White Card.
