Manage your licence with confidence

You learn about NSW liquor laws, licence-management responsibilities and practical ways to reduce alcohol-related harm in your venue.

It is regulated by Liquor & Gaming NSW and delivered by Edway as an approved training provider. It is not nationally recognised training.

Before you book

A quick language check is part of enrolment. You'll need enough English to read, write and understand the course. After booking, you'll complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check in your student account. You need to pass it to do the course. Not sure? Try a practice check first. What you'll need

A current RSA. Bring your current SITHFAB021 training record or NSW RSA competency card. You cannot enrol without it.

Photo ID. Bring a valid passport, Australian driver licence or proof-of-age card. Student ID is not accepted.

If you work in gaming. You also need an RCG refresher completed within the 90 days before you enrol.

Licensee Training NSW

Certificate of Completion for Licensee Training — non-accredited. It is not nationally recognised training.

Edway emails your Certificate of Completion when you finish. It remains available to download from your student account.

NSW competency card with Licensee endorsement

Liquor & Gaming NSW administers the endorsement, and the physical and digital card are provided through Service NSW.

Why do this course?

Licensee Training is your step up to running the venue — the Liquor & Gaming NSW training you complete when you take on the licensee, approved manager or club secretary role in NSW, and it renews your RSA endorsement at the same time.

Required for

  • LicenseeTransferring a licence? You have 60 days from provisional approval to finish the training.
  • Approved managerYou have 60 days from the day the application to appoint you is lodged.
  • Club secretaryYou have 60 days from the day the application to appoint you is lodged.
  • Venues in higher-risk categories — trading after midnight more than 12 times a year, nightclubs and karaoke bars — also need Advanced Licensee Training.

The entrance has one step through a standard-width door. There is no alternative entrance.

Getting there

The venue is close to Kings Cross Station, and buses stop nearby on William Street. Use the Transport for NSW Trip Planner for the best current service and accessible-travel information.

Parking

There is no customer parking on site. Paid parking is available nearby at Wilson Parking and at Secure Parking in Kings Cross. Limited metered street parking may be available. Always check the signs. Parking availability, hours and fees can change, so check the operator's website before travelling.

Finding the entrance

Enter directly from William Street through the shopfront branded Edway and Training Aid. There is one public entrance.

What happens after you book

  1. 1Check your emailYour confirmation email shows your training details. It comes from no-reply@edway.edu.au. It usually arrives within a few minutes of booking.
  2. 2Set up your student accountLog in with the details in your confirmation email and set up your account.
  3. 3Complete a short LLND checkIn your student account you complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check. You'll need enough English to take part and to pass it.
  4. 4We confirm your enrolmentOnce you've finished the LLND check, we confirm your enrolment by email. If there's a problem with your eligibility, we'll contact you directly before you start.

Getting your Licensee endorsement

  1. 1Edway emails your course recordsOnce you have finished the course and paid, Edway emails your Certificate of Completion and interim certificate.
  2. 2Your digital card updates automaticallyLiquor & Gaming NSW adds the Licensee endorsement to your digital NSW competency card. You do not need to apply.
  3. 3Your physical card is postedService NSW sends it to the address held on your competency-card record.
  4. 4Your RSA endorsement renewsCompleting Licensee Training also renews your existing RSA endorsement.
Licensee Training does not renew your RCG endorsement.
