Becoming the appointed Food Safety Supervisor

SITSS00069 (SITXFSA005 + SITXFSA006) · Statement of Attainment

Category 1 and 2 food businesses across Australia have to appoint a Food Safety Supervisor. This is the course that qualifies you for the role.

It's for cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen hands and food-business managers — anyone appointed to the role, or about to be.

Before you book

A quick language check is part of enrolment. You'll need enough English to read, write and understand the course. What you'll need

A USI. A Unique Student Identifier.

Photo ID. A valid photo ID, shown when you arrive on the day.

Accepted ID. Your photo ID must be Australian-issued, or an international passport.

Privacy: when you complete the course, the RTO securely sends your details and results to the NSW Food Authority so your Food Safety Supervisor certificate can be issued.

NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate

Given to you in person, the same day your assessments are completed — this one isn't emailed. Your Food Safety Supervisor certification is valid 5 years. Renew with a NSW Food Authority-approved RTO.

The NSW Food Authority certificate fee is included in your course price.

Why do this course?

Every café, restaurant, takeaway and catering business has to appoint a certified Food Safety Supervisor, and this is the certificate that person holds — the business can nominate the owner, the manager or the chef.

In person

You attend a one-day classroom course with a trainer. Your ID is checked when you arrive.

Parking

There is no customer parking on site. Paid parking is available nearby at Wilson Parking and at Secure Parking in Kings Cross. Limited metered street parking may be available. Always check the signs. Parking availability, hours and fees can change, so check the operator's website before travelling.

Enter directly from William Street through the shopfront branded Edway and Training Aid. There is one public entrance.

  2. 2Set up your student accountLog in and set up your account.
  3. 3Have your USI readyA Unique Student Identifier is required for this course. Get or find yours at usi.gov.au.
  4. 4Complete a short LLND checkIn your student account you complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check. You'll need enough English to take part and to pass it.
  5. 5We confirm your enrolmentOnce you've finished the LLND check, we confirm your enrolment by email. If there's a problem with your eligibility, we'll contact you directly before you start.
  6. 6On the dayBring one valid photo ID and arrive 15 minutes early. Your ID is checked when you arrive.
