If your work involves gaming machines in New South Wales, you need Responsible Conduct of Gambling training first. It applies to gaming-floor and gaming-area staff, staff who pay out winnings, hotel licensees, registered-club secretaries and directors, and Responsible Gambling Officers.

The course teaches you how to promote responsible gambling, reduce gambling harm and meet your legal obligations at work.

Advanced RCG NSW

Course Completion Certificate

Advanced RCG builds on RCG for people carrying Responsible Gambling Officer duties and senior operational responsibilities in New South Wales hotels and clubs with gaming machines.

The course focuses on complex patron interactions, sound decisions in difficult situations and the harm-minimisation systems a venue needs around its gaming operations.

Before booking

Before you book

A quick language check is part of enrolment. You'll need enough English to read, write and understand the course. After booking, you'll complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check in your student account. You need to pass it to do the course. Not sure? Try a practice check first. What you'll need

A USI. A Unique Student Identifier.

Photo ID. A valid photo ID, shown when you arrive on the day.

An email address and mobile number. Liquor & Gaming NSW sends your online assessment link to them.

You must be 18 or over to work with gaming machines. Under-18s are not allowed in the gaming machine areas of New South Wales hotels and clubs.

Already hold a NSW RSA or RCG? If your competency card is current, expired less than 28 days ago, or your interim certificate was issued less than 5 years ago, you cannot be enrolled in the full course again. See the renewal steps in the FAQ below, or call us before you book.

Your RCG evidence. You must have completed Responsible Conduct of Gambling before you enrol in Advanced RCG.

Valid photo ID. Your identity is checked for this course.

Your competency card details. The Advanced RCG endorsement is added to your New South Wales competency card.

RCG NSW

Getting your RCG opens up gaming-floor work in NSW pubs and clubs — every job that touches the gaming machines needs it, from the floor staff to the person paying out winnings.

Advanced RCG NSW

Advanced RCG is the step up to Responsible Gambling Officer — the role every NSW pub and club with more than 20 gaming machine entitlements has to fill, and no one carries it out without this training.

Train in the classroom

Attend a scheduled session with your trainer and complete the course activities and assessment in class.

The entrance has one step through a standard-width door. There is no alternative entrance.

Parking

There is no customer parking on site. Paid parking is available nearby at Wilson Parking and at Secure Parking in Kings Cross. Limited metered street parking may be available. Always check the signs. Parking availability, hours and fees can change, so check the operator's website before travelling.

Finding the entrance

Enter directly from William Street through the shopfront branded Edway and Training Aid. There is one public entrance.

What happens after you book

1RCG NSW: Check your emailYour confirmation email shows your venue, date and time. It comes from no-reply@edway.edu.au. It usually arrives within a few minutes of booking.
2RCG NSW: Set up your student accountLog in with the details in your confirmation email and set up your account.
3RCG NSW: Complete a short LLND checkIn your student account you complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check. You'll need enough English to take part and to pass it.
4RCG NSW: We confirm your enrolmentOnce you've finished the LLND check, we confirm your enrolment by email. If there's a problem with your eligibility, we'll contact you directly before you start.
5RCG NSW: On the dayBring photo ID and arrive 15 minutes early. Your ID is checked when you arrive.
6Advanced RCG NSW: Check your confirmation emailYour booking details, session time and next steps arrive by email.
7Advanced RCG NSW: Have your RCG evidence readyYou need proof that you completed RCG before enrolling in Advanced RCG.
8Advanced RCG NSW: Bring your photo IDYour ID is checked when you arrive.

What happens after training

  1. 1RCG NSW: Get your interim certificateAfter your course is lodged, you'll get an email and SMS from OneGov with a link to the online assessment. When you pass, follow the prompts and tick the declaration — your interim certificate is then issued. It's valid for 90 days and you can work with gaming machines straight away.
  2. 2RCG NSW: Apply at Service NSWTake the interim certificate and 100 points of ID to a Service NSW centre. You must apply yourself — nobody can apply for you.
  3. 3RCG NSW: Use your digital cardYour digital card is available in the Service NSW app right after your ID check.
  4. 4RCG NSW: Watch for the posted cardYour physical card is posted — allow about a month. The card cost is included in your course fee.
  5. 5Advanced RCG NSW: Receive your certificateYour Course Completion Certificate is provided on the same day you successfully complete the course.
  6. 6Advanced RCG NSW: Your completion is lodgedYour provider uploads your completion details to the Liquor & Gaming NSW portal.
  7. 7Advanced RCG NSW: Your digital card updatesYour ARCG endorsement is added to your current digital NSW competency card.

No. This bundle has 2 separate course dates. You choose one available date for each course.
What do I receive when I finish?
You receive 2 course credentials, one for each course you successfully complete.
RCG NSW: How long does my RCG last?
Your NSW competency card's RCG endorsement is valid for 5 years. To renew, you complete the short online Liquor & Gaming NSW RCG Refresher before it expires and pay only the card-issue fee. We do not run refresher courses.
