You learn about NSW liquor laws, licence-management responsibilities and practical ways to reduce alcohol-related harm in your venue.

It is regulated by Liquor & Gaming NSW and delivered by Edway as an approved training provider. It is not nationally recognised training.

Advanced RCG NSW

Course Completion Certificate

Advanced RCG builds on RCG for people carrying Responsible Gambling Officer duties and senior operational responsibilities in New South Wales hotels and clubs with gaming machines.

The course focuses on complex patron interactions, sound decisions in difficult situations and the harm-minimisation systems a venue needs around its gaming operations.

Before booking

Before you book

A quick language check is part of enrolment. You'll need enough English to read, write and understand the course. After booking, you'll complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check in your student account. You need to pass it to do the course. Not sure? Try a practice check first. What you'll need

A current RSA. Bring your current SITHFAB021 training record or NSW RSA competency card. You cannot enrol without it.

Photo ID. Bring a valid passport, Australian driver licence or proof-of-age card. Student ID is not accepted.

If you work in gaming. You also need an RCG refresher completed within the 90 days before you enrol.

Your RCG evidence. You must have completed Responsible Conduct of Gambling before you enrol in Advanced RCG.

Valid photo ID. Your identity is checked for this course.

Your competency card details. The Advanced RCG endorsement is added to your New South Wales competency card.

Why do these courses?

Licensee Training NSW

Licensee Training is your step up to running the venue — the Liquor & Gaming NSW training you complete when you take on the licensee, approved manager or club secretary role in NSW, and it renews your RSA endorsement at the same time.

Required for

  • LicenseeTransferring a licence? You have 60 days from provisional approval to finish the training.
  • Approved managerYou have 60 days from the day the application to appoint you is lodged.
  • Club secretaryYou have 60 days from the day the application to appoint you is lodged.
  • Venues in higher-risk categories — trading after midnight more than 12 times a year, nightclubs and karaoke bars — also need Advanced Licensee Training.

Advanced RCG NSW

Advanced RCG is the step up to Responsible Gambling Officer — the role every NSW pub and club with more than 20 gaming machine entitlements has to fill, and no one carries it out without this training.

  • Approved managerApproved managers also complete separate Liquor & Gaming NSW licensee training.

Licensee Training NSW

Train with your facilitator in Sydney

Complete the 7-hour course at our Darlinghurst training venue, with your facilitator and other learners in the room.

Advanced RCG NSW

Train in the classroom

Attend a scheduled session with your trainer and complete the course activities and assessment in class.

Accessibility

The entrance has one step through a standard-width door. There is no alternative entrance.

Getting there

The venue is close to Kings Cross Station, and buses stop nearby on William Street. Use the Transport for NSW Trip Planner for the best current service and accessible-travel information.

Parking

There is no customer parking on site. Paid parking is available nearby at Wilson Parking and at Secure Parking in Kings Cross. Limited metered street parking may be available. Always check the signs. Parking availability, hours and fees can change, so check the operator's website before travelling.

Finding the entrance

Enter directly from William Street through the shopfront branded Edway and Training Aid. There is one public entrance.

What happens after you book

1Licensee Training NSW: Check your emailYour confirmation email shows your venue, date and time. It comes from no-reply@edway.edu.au. It usually arrives within a few minutes of booking.
2Licensee Training NSW: Set up your student accountLog in with the details in your confirmation email and set up your account.
3Licensee Training NSW: Complete a short LLND checkIn your student account you complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check. You'll need enough English to take part and to pass it.
4Licensee Training NSW: We confirm your enrolmentOnce you've finished the LLND check, we confirm your enrolment by email. If there's a problem with your eligibility, we'll contact you directly before you start.
5Licensee Training NSW: On the dayBring your current RSA evidence and valid photo ID. If you work in gaming, bring your recent RCG refresher certificate too. Your ID is checked when you arrive.
6Advanced RCG NSW: Check your confirmation emailYour booking details, session time and next steps arrive by email.
7Advanced RCG NSW: Have your RCG evidence readyYou need proof that you completed RCG before enrolling in Advanced RCG.
8Advanced RCG NSW: Bring your photo IDYour ID is checked when you arrive.

What happens after training

  1. 1Licensee Training NSW: Edway emails your course recordsOnce you have finished the course and paid, Edway emails your Certificate of Completion and interim certificate.
  2. 2Licensee Training NSW: Your digital card updates automaticallyLiquor & Gaming NSW adds the Licensee endorsement to your digital NSW competency card. You do not need to apply.
  3. 3Licensee Training NSW: Your physical card is postedService NSW sends it to the address held on your competency-card record.
  4. 4Licensee Training NSW: Your RSA endorsement renewsCompleting Licensee Training also renews your existing RSA endorsement.
  5. 5Advanced RCG NSW: Receive your certificateYour Course Completion Certificate is provided on the same day you successfully complete the course.
