What happens after traffic control training?

The workplace evidence, assessment and card steps that follow Victoria's combined TC1 and TMI1 classroom training.

A traffic control learner completes supervised roadside practice while an assessor observes

The short answer

The 3 classroom days are only the first part. Within 6 months, TC1 learners complete 20 logged hours and a supervised assessment. TMI1 learners complete 3 traffic-management setups.

After the required practical work is accepted, you receive the full skill-set outcome and digital card.

The full pathway

Stage What happens
Classroom training 2 theory days and 1 simulated practical day
Workplace evidence TC1 hours and assessment, plus TMI1 setups
Completion Statement of Attainment and TTM Digital Card

The post-course work must be completed within 6 months. If it is not completed in time, the skill-set requirements have not been met.

Complete the TC1 evidence

For Traffic Controller 1, you complete 20 logged hours of practical traffic control. You also complete a supervised assessment.

This is real-world evidence after the classroom course. It shows that you can apply the traffic-control skills under supervision.

Complete the TMI1 evidence

For Traffic Management Implementer 1, you complete 3 traffic-management setups. Each setup must follow the relevant Traffic Management Plan and Traffic Guidance Scheme.

The setups demonstrate that you can put approved traffic arrangements into place. They are separate from the TC1 logged hours.

Keep to the 6-month limit

Both practical parts must be finished within 6 months of the theory training. Do not leave the workplace evidence until the end of that period.

Edway will tell enrolled students what evidence is required. This guide does not guess at forms, lodgement steps or assessment timing that can change.

What you receive

After the classroom and practical requirements are complete, you receive a Statement of Attainment. It covers the 6 units in the combined TC1 and TMI1 course.

You also receive a TTM Digital Card recorded on the Austroads national practitioner register. The card is valid for 3 years.

Edway Training (RTO 91401) delivers and issues this Victorian course as an Austroads and Department of Transport and Planning approved provider.

Before the course

You need a current White Card before starting. Edway requires the Statement of Attainment as evidence, not only the plastic card.

If you are unsure which traffic course fits, use the traffic control course chooser.
