A Victorian Red Card issued before 1 July 2008 is still valid. If you want the current card instead, the transfer is online and needs no new training.

The short answer

A Victorian Red Card issued before 1 July 2008 is still valid in Victoria. You do not have to replace it.

If you would rather hold the current card, Edway runs a Red Card transfer in Victoria. It is completed online, there is no new training, and WorkSafe Victoria issues you a new construction induction card.

Your Red Card is still valid

WorkSafe Victoria's instructions to training organisations say plainly that red cards are still valid, and that red card holders are not required to complete new construction induction training. Your Red Card is treated as evidence that you already did the induction.

So nothing is forcing you to act. The transfer is there for people who would rather carry the current card.

Who can transfer

The transfer is for a Victorian Red Card issued before 1 July 2008. You will also need enough English to take part.

How the transfer works

The transfer is completed online. In Victoria it is delivered by Edway Training (RTO 91401).

When you book, you choose an appointment time — but you do not have to attend it. After you book, Edway emails you two choices: come in at that time, or reply by email with clear copies of the front and back of your Red Card, photo identification showing your full name and date of birth, and your current postal address.

Edway then submits your transfer application to WorkSafe Victoria and pays WorkSafe for the card.

What you receive

WorkSafe Victoria approves the application, creates your new plastic construction induction card and mails it to you.

Because no new training happens, the transfer does not produce a Statement of Attainment. A Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry comes from completing the course, not from a transfer. If you need that training record, book the course instead.

Next step

Choose Victoria on the White Card course page, then pick the Red Card transfer option to see the price and book.
