First aid online training: can you do your first aid course online?
Start your first aid online training, then finish in one classroom day. Book a Sydney class or enquire about a first aid course Melbourne date.

The short answer
Yes, you can start your first aid course online. Part of the first aid course is online: a compulsory module you finish before class. The rest is a one-day classroom session, where you practise and are assessed in person. The nationally recognised first aid course (HLTAID011 Provide First Aid) cannot be done fully online.
There is also a separate online first aid course on this site. It is not accredited and is not nationally recognised. It gives a Certificate of Completion only, not a Statement of Attainment.
Are you looking to learn something new that would also be beneficial to yourself and your loved ones? First aid training is it. You never know when an accident can happen, so it is best to always be prepared. The right knowledge could be the only way to save your loved ones or even a stranger in your community.
First aid training Melbourne and Sydney: how the one-day session runs
First aid training has two parts.
- Book, then do the online module. After you book, you complete a compulsory online pre-study module. It takes about 1 to 3 hours. You must finish it before the classroom day.
- Attend the classroom day. The session is 6 hours, including breaks. You practise the skills with a trainer and other students.
- Get your certificate. Training Aid Australia (RTO 91411) issues your Statement of Attainment, usually within 24 hours.
The Statement of Attainment covers HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. It also covers HLTAID010 (basic emergency life support) and HLTAID009 (CPR).
First aid training in Sydney. Classes run at Darlinghurst, Seven Hills and Mona Vale, with scheduled dates you can book.
First aid training in Melbourne. Training Aid Australia lists Melbourne and Hallam as venues. Melbourne sessions are by enquiry: send an enquiry from the course page and the team will come back to you with dates.
Whether you are a school leaver, a family member, changing careers or a backpacker looking for short-term work, one day is all the classroom time it takes. A first aid course can open pathways to a whole range of different careers. It might also give you the skills to manage accidental injuries suffered by your friends or family.
Is there a CPR training course over Zoom?
The CPR training course runs in a classroom, with an online module first. The nationally recognised CPR course (HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a classroom course. You practise CPR on a manikin in person, so your hands learn the skill as well as your head. You must be physically able to do 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Like first aid, the CPR course has a compulsory online module before class. The classroom part is 3 hours, including breaks. Training Aid Australia (RTO 91411) issues the Statement of Attainment.
There is also a separate online CPR course on this site. It is not accredited and does not give you the HLTAID009 certificate. If your job asks for a nationally recognised CPR certificate, book the classroom course.
"Senior first aid" is the old name
You may see first aid training in Melbourne or Sydney called "Senior First Aid" or "First Aid Level 2". Those are older names. The course you book now is HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
If your employer asks for senior first aid, HLTAID011 is the course that replaced that name. To pick the right course for your job, read Which first aid course do you need?.
Your Statement of Attainment does not expire. But first aid skills are refreshed every 3 years, and CPR every 12 months. Read How long does a first aid certificate last? for more.
What you need before you book
Check these before you book a first aid course:
- Photo ID. Bring one valid photo ID on the day.
- A USI. This is your Unique Student Identifier, the number that links your training records.
- A short LLND check. After booking, you'll complete a short language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) check in your student account. You can try a free 10-minute practice check first to see the level.
- The online module. Finish the compulsory pre-study module before class.
- Physical ability. You must be able to do 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin on the floor.
- Enough English for the course.
