Asbestos Removal Supervision

Non-Friable Asbestos Removal

Remove non-friable asbestosCPCCDE3028 · Statement of Attainment

You train to remove non-friable asbestos safely — the bonded material that is not crumbly, and the kind construction and demolition workers meet most often on site.

It is written for the people doing that work: construction and demolition workers taking bonded asbestos off site, and anyone who needs this unit before moving up to Class A friable removal or supervising.

  • What you'll learn
  • Prepare for asbestos removal
  • Prepare the removal area and site
  • Enclose the removal site
  • Carry out the asbestos removal process
  • Carry out decontamination
  • Clean up the work site
  • Complete regulatory processes
See the Non-Friable Asbestos Removal course

Asbestos Removal Supervision

Supervise asbestos removalCPCCDE4009 · Statement of Attainment

You train to plan and oversee licensed asbestos removal, and to run the job to its asbestos removal control plan.

This is the supervisor's course, not the removalist's. It's for site supervisors and leading hands overseeing licensed asbestos removal — and anyone a licensed removalist must nominate as the on-site or readily-available supervisor.

  • What you'll learn
  • Plan how you'll supervise a removal job
  • Oversee preparation of the removal area
  • Supervise compliant testing and air monitoring
  • Supervise the removal and decontamination work
  • Keep the job compliant with the asbestos removal control plan and work health and safety law

Why do these courses?

Non-Friable Asbestos Removal

Class B training is what gets you onto bonded asbestos removal jobs — a licensed removalist can't put you on the tools without it, and it's the unit you have to hold before you can go on to Class A or supervising.

Required for

  • Demolition and strip-out workerRemoval work is licensed work — you do it for a licensed removalist, or you hold the Class B licence yourself.
  • Self-employed tradesperson removing bonded asbestos sheetingWorking on your own above the unlicensed limit means holding the Class B licence yourself, plus the supervisor competency.

Asbestos Removal Supervision

Every licensed asbestos removal job has to have a named supervisor holding this certification — on friable jobs they are at the removal area the whole time it is being carried out, and on non-friable jobs they have to be readily available to the crew.

Required for

  • Asbestos removal supervisor — including site supervisors and leading hands the removalist namesThe supervisor is named on the removalist's licence, so the appointment comes from the licensed business you work for.
  • Self-employed removalist working alone on non-friable asbestosWorking alone on more than 10 square metres of non-friable asbestos means holding the Class B licence and both competencies — worker and supervisor.
