SafeWork NSW Requirement


To comply with SafeWork NSW regulations, all demolition workers must complete the CPCCDE3016 “Identify hazards on demolition sites and apply risk management strategies” unit by 1 March 2025. This unit is one of 10 essential competencies required for demolition named supervisors and licence holders.


Training Prerequisite

CPCCWHS2001: Apply WHS requirements, policies, and procedures in the construction industry must be held or completed prior to undertaking study of CPCCDE3016. This unit ensures you understand workplace safety rules before progressing to demolition-specific training.

Hazards and Risks in Demolition Sites

Course Information


Demolition Worker Training Requirement


  • Starting from March 1, 2025, demolition workers must complete the SafeWork NSW approved course CPCCDE3016 “Identify hazards on demolition sites and apply risk management strategies”.

  • CPCCDE3016 is one of the 11 required competencies for license holders and named supervisors

  • Demolition workers who have already completed the older course, CPCCDE3016A, are exempt from taking the new course


Training is required for workers who

  • Physically perform manual demolition work

  • Operate machinery or equipment involved in demolition

  • Work without direct supervision


Training is NOT necessary for

  • Truck drivers transporting demolition waste, remaining in the cabin

  • Individuals who are always accompanied by a named supervisor

  • Persons not entering the demolition site, including

    • Service providers stationed outside the demolition site

    • Traffic controllers as long as they stay outside of the demolition site


Training Records

  • Training records must be maintained for demolition workers and be available for inspection under Section 142E starting March 1, 2023.


Training Prerequisite

  • The prerequisite for the course is CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies, and procedures in the construction industry.

  • Students must complete a short 4-hour online pre-study course before attending their class

  • Please note, that possession of the Statement of Attainment is a mandatory requirement to complete the course..

  • If you already hold a Statement of Attainment for CPCCWHS2001: Apply WHS requirements, policies, and procedures in the construction industry, you do not need to complete the online pre-study module. Simply email your Statement of Attainment to contact@trainingaid.com.au before your course date.

What will you learn


Demolition Site Hazard Management training covers topics required to identify hazards common to demolition work and undiscovered hazards that may arise during work on demolition sites.

This includes reviewing site and work plans, applying WHS (Work Health and Safety) risk management strategies to work activities on demolition sites, applying public health and safety risk management strategies on demolition sites, applying environmental risk management strategies on demolition sites, and contributing to the improvement of demolition risk management strategies.

SafeWork NSW issued plastic General SafeWork NSW recognises CPCCDE3016 Identify hazards on demolition sites and apply risk management strategies training course.


Course requirements

Attendance


Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary registration paperwork.

ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED

if participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time.

USI (Unique Student Identifier)


From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a USI.

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CANNOT BE ISSUED

if a participant fails to produce a valid USI number.

USI can be obtained via www.usi.gov.au

LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy)


It is a requirement that all students must have basic English reading, writing, and understanding skills. Interpreters are not allowed for most courses.

From 1/7/25, all students must complete a basic LLN (Language, Literacy, and Numeracy) test before enrolment. This ensures you can understand the course content and get the right support during training.

All students enrolling in an Edway Training course are required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills assessment as part of their student profile. This ensures they have the necessary skills to perform basic calculations, and to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, enabling them to successfully participate in the training and assessment process.
