Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations course (also known as Excavator Training Course) equips participants with the skills to operate excavators safely and effectively for lifting, carrying, and placing materials.


Covering essential topics such as hazard identification, equipment selection, and operational techniques, this course is ideal for site-based workers in the civil infrastructure industry.


Participants will also learn to perform prestart checks, manage equipment faults, and execute post-operational inspections, with an emphasis on compliance with state-specific legislative and regulatory requirements.

Excavator Training

Course Information


 Excavator training consists of 2 days of training:

  • Day 1: Classroom theory

  • Day 2: Practical day with exercises on a real excavator

  • Our training includes:

    • planning and preparing for safe and proper excavator operations;

    • undertaking machine pre-operational checklists and safety procedures;

    • safely operating the excavator, lifting, carrying and placing materials;

    • selecting and changing attachments, carrying out operator maintenance and cleaning up.

  • This course supersedes and is equivalent to RIIMPO320E qualification.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive:

Statement of Attainment with the below unit of competency:
  • RIIMPO320F Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations

  • Plastic Card issued by Edway Training (mailed within 3 weeks)


What will you learn


Excavator training course covers following topics:

  • Understand and have a knowledge of WHS Regulations

  • Operate the excavator to WHS Competency Standards

  • Load Trucks

  • Conduct basic maintenance and service procedures

  • Hazard awareness

  • Supervised, hands-on operation

  • Practical workplace situations


Excavator training course consists of PowerPoint presentation, class activities, videos, end of the day assessment and practical day with operation of an excavator.

Nationally accepted


Statement of Attainment is nationally recognized all across Australia.

Attendance


Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary registration paperwork.

ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED

if participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time.

USI (Unique Student Identifier)


From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a USI.

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CANNOT BE ISSUED

if a participant fails to produce a valid USI number.

USI can be obtained via www.usi.gov.au

Identification


Participants MUST PROVIDE 1 form of government-issued I.D (e.g. passport, Australian driver’s licence, NSW proof of age card) White Card or Certificate of Training.

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED

if participants do not provide a valid form of I.D.

LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy)


It is a requirement that all students must have basic English reading, writing, and understanding skills. Interpreters are not allowed for most courses.

From 1/7/25, all students must complete a basic LLN (Language, Literacy, and Numeracy) test before enrolment. This ensures you can understand the course content and get the right support during training.

All students enrolling in an Edway Training course are required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) skills assessment as part of their student profile. This ensures they have the necessary skills to perform basic calculations, and to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, enabling them to successfully participate in the training and assessment process.

Current White Card


Participants MUST HOLD CPCCWHS1001 "Prepare to work safely in the construction industry" qualification.

Statement of the Attainment or the plastic Construction Induction card (also known as the white card) must be presented on the training day as proof of qualification.

Please note that the old coloured cards (Victorian red card, NSW green card etc) issued prior to May 2009 are not accepted.

ENTRY TO THE CLASS WILL BE REFUSED

if participant does not present current white card.

PPE Required


To be able to successfully complete the practical part of the course (Day 2), participants are required to have: Hard Hat, Steel-Capped Boots, Hi Vis Vest, Safety Gloves, Protective eye wear.
