Online Owner Builder Course
NSW Owner Builder Course is the mandatory course that all individuals must complete prior to being eligible to apply for an NSW Owner Builder Permit.
Our nationally accredited owner builder course meets all the educational requirements set out by Fair Trading NSW.
Owner Builder NSW Course
Our online owner builder course meets all the educational requirements set out by Fair Trading NSW which includes the following units of competency:
CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
CPCCOM2001 Read and interpret plans and specifications
CPCCCM1011 Undertake basic estimation and costing
CPCCOM1013 Plan and organise work
CPCCOM1014 Conduct workplace communication
An Owner Builder is a homeowner who holds a Permit and performs the traditional role of a licensed builder and manages construction work that is being carried out on his or her own residential premises.
As part of the project, an Owner Builder orders building materials and engages contractors directly to carry out construction work, and they effectively manage the whole project in the same way that a licensed builder normally would.

Course Information
Owner-Builder Permit & White Card Requirements
If you are planning home renovation work, you may need an owner-builder permit, depending on the value of the work:
Work valued over $10,000 → You must obtain an owner-builder permit.
Work valued over $20,000 → You must also complete specific units of competency or provide approved equivalent qualifications and experience.
Additionally, if your work requires an owner-builder permit, you must hold a current White Card (or general construction induction training card).
If You Already Have a White Card:
Issued less than 2 years ago? → No need to redo the White Card Course.
Issued more than 2 years ago and you haven’t been working in construction? → You must complete the White Card Course again before enrolling.
If you do not currently hold a White Card, you will need to complete our White Card Course before enrolling in the Owner Builder Course.
How to Complete the White Card Course
You can complete the White Card Course in two ways:
Face-to-Face Training (in-person at our training centre).
Remote Delivery via Zoom (online, instructor-led training).
Important: 6-Month Expiry for the Online Course
Once you receive your confirmation email, you will have six months to complete the online course. If you do not finish it within this timeframe:
Your enrolment will expire.
You will need to pay the full course fee again.
You must restart the course from the beginning.
No refunds will be issued for non-completion.

Units of Competency
Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive a Statement of Attainment with the following units of competency:
CPCCWHS2001 – Apply WHS Requirements, Policies And Procedures In The Construction Industry
CPCCOM2001 – Read and Interpret Plans
CPCCCM1011 – Undertake Basic Estimation and Costing
CPCCOM1013 – Plan and Organize Work
CPCCOM1014 – Conduct Workplace Communication

Applying for Owner Builder Permit
After completion of the course, the course participants need to apply for an Owner Builder Permit. It is to be done online or in person through Service NSW. In addition to your project documentation and proof of ownership, you will be required:
to provide evidence of meeting Owner-builder approved education requirement which is providing the Statement of Attainment
to present a copy of White Card (Note: the SafeWork NSW certificate is not accepted, it must be the plastic card)

Eligibility to get Owner Builder Permit
To receive a Owner Builder Permit in NSW, you need to meet the eligibility criteria, which include, but not limited to:
be at least 18 years of age
own, or have a prescribed interest in, the residential land where the construction work will to be carried out
live or intend to live in the completed home
the building work has not been started
the property is not part of a multi-dwelling strata complex
you’ll live in the property after the building work is complete
Course requirements

White Card
In addition to the Owner Builder Course, the course participants must hold a General Construction Induction card (also known as White Card).
If you do not currently hold a White Card, you will need to complete our White Card Course.
If you already hold a White Card that has been issued:
less than 2 years ago, you will be able to commence our Owner Builder Course without having to complete the White Card Course again;
more than 2 years ago, and you have not been working in the construction industry, you will need to register and complete the White Card Course.
You can complete a face-to-face White Card course or White Card Connected Delivery via ZOOM.

USI (Unique Student Identifier)
From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a USI.
STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CANNOT BE ISSUED
if a participant fails to produce a valid USI number.
USI can be obtained via www.usi.gov.au
