Non-Friable Asbestos Removal Training (Class B)

Non-friable Asbestos Removal training course is also known as Class B licence.

OHS Act and Regulations state that all persons performing asbestos removal work must receive information, instruction and training to enable them to perform the work safely and without risk to health.

Asbestos removal work involving non-friable asbestos-containing material (ACM) MUST be performed by a Class A or Class B licensed person if:

  • the area of ACM to be removed exceeds 10 square meters in total, or
  • the total time over which asbestos removal work is performed in any period of seven days exceeds one hour (this period is the cumulative total time the asbestos removal work is carried out by all employees over a period of seven days).

Course Overview

Course: Remove non-friable asbestos CPCCDE3014A

Non-friable asbestos removal training covers topics such as prepare for asbestos removal, prepare asbestos removal area and removal site, isolate removal site, carry out asbestos removal process, carry out decontamination process, clean up the work site, contribute to and use documentation in line with regulatory requirements.

The course consists of powerpoint theory presentation, videos, practical activities and end of the day practical and theory assessments.

Edway Training is approved by Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver this training course.

Course Outcome

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive:

  • National Statement of Attainment (which is issued on the day of training)
  • Plastic wallet size card (which will be mailed after the course)

According to the clause 88 of the WorkSafe Victoria’s Compliance Code “Removing asbestos in the workplace”, refresher training should be conducted for Class B removalists every 2 years.

Course Requirements

1. CURRENT WHITE CARD

Participants must hold CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry qualification. Statement of the Attainment or the plastic Construction Induction card (also known as the white card) MUST be presented on the day of training as a proof of qualification.

Please note that the old coloured cards (Victorian red card, NSW green card etc) issued prior to May 2009 CANNOT be used as they do not validate that the person was assessed against CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry unit of competency.

ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED if participant DOES NOT present current white card.

2. IDENTIFICATION

Participants MUST provide one form of photo I.D. (e.g. passport, Australian driver’s licence, proof of age card, student card).

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED if participants do not provide a valid form of I.D.

3. ATTENDANCE

Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary registration paperwork.

ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED if participants arrive 30 minutes after the scheduled starting time.

4. BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE

To complete the course assessment, the basic understanding of reading and writing English is required.

THE TRAINER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY TO THE COURSE based on the outcome of the Language, Literacy and Numeracy test which is available to all participants.
